Gus’ background in engineering and accounting provides him with a unique perspective on servicing clients in many sectors. He has extensive experience in assisting clients with: tax advisory, remuneration strategies, business succession, indirect tax, voluntary disclosure applications, and CRA tax audits. Gus co-founded Abacus to provide his clientele with a comprehensive approach to tax, wealth management, and business planning.
Igor articled for Deloitte LLP after graduating with distinction from the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management. There he obtained his CPA, CA, CIA and CFE designations through requisite coursework and experience. Having mastered financial reporting (IFRS, ASPE, and US GAAP), advisory (restructuring, mergers, acquisitions and public market offerings), and taxation, Igor went on to co-found Abacus Group.
Joseph Cass has extensive experience operating a sole proprietorship for many years. Prior to opening his own practice, Joseph worked at several mid-size public accounting firms where he honed his expertise of corporate taxation, estate planning, and transactions advisory. Joseph serves as the lead engagement partner on Abacus’ largest clients and meritoriously holds a lifetime membership with the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada.
Natalia, a graduate of York University’s Bachelor of Administrative Studies, majoring in Accounting, obtained her CGA and CPA designations after successfully completing post-graduate examinations and articling for a well-known Toronto public accounting firm. Subsequently, she completed CPA Canada’s In-Depth Tax Program while continuing to specialize in providing clients with extensive support with respect to corporate, personal, and indirect taxation. Natalia joined Abacus Group where she currently manages a diverse team and a substantial portfolio of clients requiring assistance with complex tax issues.
Khrystyna began her career with Abacus after graduating from the Precarpathian National University with an Honours Masters of Accounting and Audit . She specializes in assurance-related activities, including: audits, reviews, and compilations, fulfillment of regulatory tax filings associated with those engagements, and assistance with public market transactions (initial public offerings, restructuring, and accounting framework conversions).
Agata holds an advanced research degree in Environment, Sustainability and Cultural Change from the University of Oslo, and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration specializing in Energy and Environment from Jagiellonian University and the University of Geneva. Agata is an author of 3 peer-reviewed research papers on energy efficiency, environmental policies, and CSR. Before joining Abacus, Agata worked as a researcher and project coordinator for Austrian and Norwegian NGOs. Agata coordinates and oversees ongoing projects focusing on timely completion and is responsible for phasing-in the green transition of Abacus Group.
Gevorg joined Abacus after graduating from Georgian College with a Diploma in Accounting, specializing in computerized techniques and financial reporting. He specializes in implementing technology into his clients’ accounting workflows. Gevorg facilitates adoption of time-saving techniques, on-boarding cloud-based accounting packages, and compiling tax information for regulatory compliance work.
Evelina is a graduate of the Advanced Diploma Program in Accounting at George Brown College. She specializes in financial and management accounting as well as data analysis and financial modelling. At Abacus Group, she assists clients with various year-end and ongoing matters including: compilations, special reporting, personal and corporate tax returns, compliance filings, and financial modelling.
Milly graduated from the Schulich School of Business earning a Master’s of Accounting degree and concurrently completed the Common Final Evaluation with the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada. She joined Abacus Group to complete her articling requirements in obtaining her professional designation and licensure. Milly works on a variety of assurance and tax engagements where she focuses on audits, reviews, compilations and provides assistance with consulting engagements. She is proficient with ASPE, IFRS, as well as corporate and personal taxation.
Rahul received his Honours Bachelor of Business Administration from Wilfred Laurier University, with distinction, specializing in accounting and economics. For several years prior to joining Abacus Group, Rahul worked for boutique public accounting practices where he, primarily, focused on assurance work for corporate clients along with personal and corporate taxation. Currently, Rahul focuses on helping clients with various complexities concerning their assurance and taxation needs. He successfully wrote the Common Final Evaluation with CPA Canada in 2019 and is currently completing his articling period. Rahul continues to actively volunteer at the Canada Revenue Agency’s income tax program and for Elections Canada.
Soojin began her accounting career working with prominent public companies after obtaining her Bachelor’s in Business Administration in South Korea. She further honed her experience in Canada, having worked for small and medium-sized businesses and progressing through the CPA (US) program. She joined Abacus Group to leverage her multi-faceted experience with businesses in various stages of growth and to continue providing fast and reliable accounting, financial reporting, and performance measurement support to our clients.
Julia has over a decade of experience assisting clients with various analytical and computational tasks. Having completed various bookkeeping-related courses with the University of Toronto and McMaster University, she boasts proficiency in: applying proper recordkeeping, managing payroll and remittances, cloud accounting packages, and various tools used in tracking revenues and expenditures. Julia is a certified Payroll Compliance Practitioner with the Canadian Payroll Association and holds an Accounting and Payroll Specialist diploma.
Tatiana began her accounting career after completing the graduate Advanced Diploma in Accounting at George Brown College following her Bachelor’s in Applied Mathematics from Belarusian State University in Minsk. She has over 10 years of experience working at boutique CPA firms while pursuing her professional designation. Tatiana specializes in assisting clients with various accounting and taxation needs, split evenly between corporate and personal compliance engagements. Tatiana joined Abacus to further apply her knowledge of complex transactions, having successfully completed the Canadian Securities Course, and assist with tax planning strategies.
